The Animal Medicine Major was established in 1951 and upgraded to an undergraduate major in 1987.It was awarded the right to confer a bachelor's degree in 1991, and it was awarded the right to confer a master's degree in 2006. In 2007, the Ministry of Education had an excellent undergraduate teaching evaluation, a first-class undergraduate major, and a key development major of the school. In 2018, it cooperated with Sumy National Agricultural University of Ukraine to train doctors and masters, and in 2020, it cooperated with Sumy National Agricultural University of Ukraine to train undergraduate students majoring in animal medicine.
In this major, there are 35 Chinese teachers with doctoral degrees, 22 professors and associate professors, and 9 teachers with overseas study experience. There are 12 doctors and 10 professors and associate professors in Sumy National Agricultural University of Ukraine.
In 2020, the admission rate of graduates from the general high school is 47%, and the employment rate is over 95% over the years. This major cultivates senior professionals with comprehensive knowledge of animal medicine to meet the needs of economic construction and social development, be able to engage in animal disease prevention and control, law enforcement supervision, management, scientific research, technical services, etc. in relevant enterprises and institutions.
